This is a classic and elegant sapphire diamond platinum ring made in the ballerina style, which was popular in the 1960s.

The center stone is a 5.24 ct gem quality oval/oblong faceted natural blue sapphire (the carat weight is also inscribed inside the shank). More importantly, the sapphire is certified by Gemological Institute of America (GIA). GIA states the stone's origin as Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and has no indication of heating. The sapphire has a highly sought after lively medium blue color. This makes it very pleasing to the eye. Those of you who are shopping for a sapphire should know that color is the most important factor is determining the value of a sapphire along with clarity and cut. Desirable color when it comes to blue sapphire has always been medium blue color, meaning the color of the sapphire shouldn't be too dark (e.g. inky blue) or too pale (lack of saturation).

Furthermore, this sapphire has a superior clarity (completely eye clean) and even color spread. While most natural untreated sapphires are expected to have various degrees of inclusions, finding an eye clean stone like this one is like finding a needle in a haystack.

As many of you know, being a certified unheated sapphire alone puts it in the top 1% of all Sapphires. A sapphire coming from the origin of Sri Lanka commands a very high premium due to its scarcity, quality, and value. Ceylon sapphires with nice color and saturation are very highly regarded in the gem trade. In the current market, sapphires from Kashmir, Burma (Myanmar) as well as Ceylon carry additional premium because of their scarcity and quality.

The sapphire is surrounded by 0.61 ctw melee prong-set round cut diamonds and baguette diamonds forming a gorgeous ballerina design. All the diamonds are very white and sparkly.
