This elegant and stately high dome cabochon sapphire diamond platinum ring was made in the 1920s-1930s.

The center stone is a superior quality high dome natural sapphire cabochon (approx. 15.6mm ×10.3mm x 10.1mm, or 17.53 ct by formula). It's technically a star sapphire and shows "star effect" or "asterism" under spot light or sunlight. Its high transparency and the high dome shape of the gem makes the star not the strongest-- but it is quite noticeable (see the listing video). The star sapphire has a lovely light lavender blue hue with a great transparent and fluid nature, which make it a highly desirable fluid gem that many would prefer over those star sapphires that have a stronger star but are highly opaque and included.

The star sapphire is set on an ornate platinum mount with mil-grained details and six small old cut diamonds on each side, totaling 0.30 ctw.

If you are looking for high quality sapphire as your engagement ring, or sapphire is your birth stone, don't miss out on this well-priced heirloom piece!
