This is quite possibly one of the most gorgeous antique solid gold watch chains that a collector could dream of! It was once connected to a gentleman's pocket-watch, but now it extends its life as a gorgeous eye-catching statement necklace.

This watch chain, along with its matching watch fob locket (already sold), comes straight from a NY family estate. It has always remained in the same family till now.

Extremely well crafted with alternating long and short ornate inter-connected links. Both the long and short links contain so much detail! The long links have the typical turn of century geometric and machine-turned textured detail that is associated with the second industrial revolution. The short links have a delicate floral decor design. It is solidly built with substantial weight, it can be worn by itself or perfectly accompany your favorite locket or pendant!

It's noteworthy that all parts of the chain are original with no alteration, repair or missing parts. Similar watch chain examples (with T-bar, swivel and extension link to connect with fobs) can be found in Pg 56-56 of "Antique 1904 Catalogue Jewelry & Silverware, Carson Pirie Scott Co., Chicago, IL." (see the last listing image)

More importantly, it is a rare wearable length of a little over 15 & 3/8" long, which is extremely hard to find as a majority of antique watch chains were made with a shorter length varying from 9" to 14" and they cannot be worn without alteration or extensions. One needs to be extremely lucky to find a watch chain this long.

I have done intensive research online and sadly see there are not many comparable out there. A few that are somewhat close are either have missing parts, have alterations or terrible wear.

Metal: the swivel is marked "14", which is an non-standard hallmark for 14K and the whole chain is tested as well.

Total weight: approx. 66.1 grams.

Link width: approx. 7mm (all measures are approximate).

Circa 1890-1910s.

Condition: very fine antique condition with age appropriate wear. Please refer to all the listing pictures for general condition.
