Large Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Heart Vesta Case Keepsake Locket, Full English Hallmark Birmingham 1899, 27.5" Rosary Chain
Here is a stunning and rare large size antique Victorian sterling silver heart-shaped vesta case, made in Birmingham England in the year of 1899. It has ornate floral etched pattern throughout and a clean shield-shape space to add your personal engravings on one side, which is a typical design for late Victorian jewelry. Opened from one side of the lid, the case reveals a deep compartment. The vesta case has a solid weight and beautifully crafted.
A vesta case was used to hold short matches in the old time. Its ornate design and practical functionality can be easily re-imagined into a keepsake/locket to store a love note (say, "I love you" or "will you marry me?"), photos, a lock of hair, small jewelry, the list goes on and on...
I designed and handmade a 27.5 inches rosary style sterling silver chain accented with genuine silver grey freshwater pearls, which seamlessly complements the texture and pattern of this lovely keepsake.
