Antique Victorian 10K Solid Gold Diamond Starburst Round Shape Photo Locket, Monogram JJB, Gift for Her
This classic late-Victorian 10K solid gold locket is a must-have piece for any vintage jewelry lover. This round-shaped locket features a small old mine cut diamond (approx. 3 points) set in a starburst pattern in the center. The surface is Smooth and high polished. The back is engraved with monograms that appear to be JJB.
As a personal preference, I love to collect solid gold lockets, if my budget allows. Also, I am particularly fond of Victorian starburst lockets. We have sold many over the years in our store. The popularity of this kind of locket can be attributed to its chic design, which makes it perfect for every day wear or special occasions.
This type of starburst lockets appear in both "CBN Jewelry Catalogue 1910" and "Illustrated Jewelry Catalogue 1892". This is our dating evidence and indicates this classic style has been in popularity from 1890s to 1910s. It goes without saying then that they are still popular now among collectors.
The locket is currently hung on a 24.5-inch antique gold filled chain that came with the locket when it was acquired, so it is ready to give or wear.
Size: it measures 1" in round (excluding the top bale and jump ring).
Metal: Unmarked but tested 10K with electronic tester and confirm with acid.
Locket Weight: approx. 5.6 grams. With chain, approx. 9.2 grams.
Circa 1890s-1910s.
Condition: very good antique condition with age related wear. Tiny pinhead size nicks/dings on the surface (hardly noticeable either in person or from the pictures, but we mention it to be accurate). It has all the original components to store your precious memory, including two bezels and two celluloid covers. The snap closure is firm and secure. Please refer to all the listing pictures for the general condition.
