Antique Late Victorian Edwardian Platinum 18K Rose Cut Diamond Drop Pierced Earrings

These breath-taking antique platinum 18K rose cut diamond drop earrings were made in the early 20th century, and are most likely of French or European origin. I will let the pictures and a video (see the link below) speak for themselves regarding the beauty and charm of this pair of earrings!

Each single earring features a prong-set white and sparkly large rose cut diamond on an ornate basket mounting hung below a smaller similarly mounted rose cut diamond. All diamonds are open-back, appropriate for the period. This feature also makes them easy to clean and maintain. The setting is platinum and 18K gold, which is typical for Edwardian period jewelry. They are finished with lever hooks. The condition is pristine as shown in the listing pictures.

The beauty, the sparkles, and charm of this pair of earrings are hard to accurately describe in words. Better represented in video, but best is to see them in person! The diamonds are old rose cut, so they really glow with tons of magic and charming sparkles when interacting with different lighting!

Measurement / Size of Gemstones: as many of you know, rose cut diamonds are notoriously difficult to assess their carat weight due to the way it is cut (flat bottom nature) and its irregular shape. For this reason, we provide the approximate dimension of the diamonds instead. First earring-large rose cut diamond: approx. 7.40 mm x 5.03 mm (the diamond has a high dome/good depth with unparalleled color and clarity, estimated E-F in color, VVS in clarity, except for rough edge, I see no inclusions under 10x magnification); smaller rose cut diamond 3.29 mm -2.95 mm. Second earring-big rose cut diamond: 7.30 mmx 5.50 mm (the diamond has rough edge, it has feather, naturals and bruises, estimated J-K in color, SI-I in clarity); smaller diamond 3.31 mm x 3.28 mm. Please keep in mind that these diamonds are not measured, cut, or graded by today’s modern standards, but they have tons of antique charm that modern diamonds cannot be compared with. Size: 11/16" long (from the top to bottom) and 5/16"wide.

Metal: Platinum and 18K, unmarked but professionally tested. Manufacture method: hand set.

Weight : approx. 3.6 grams.

Condition: Very fine antique condition with age appropriate wear. All diamonds have tons of sparkles that can hardly be captured by camera or video. The lever closure mechanism works properly. All diamonds are securely set. However, given the age and delicate design of the earrings, I recommend checking with your local qualified jeweler once a year to see if any service is needed.
