This magnificent antique 10K solid gold locket is another treasure piece for antique jewelry lovers/collectors. The front of the locket highlights a vivid repousse motif of a roman warrior, which reflects a continuing influence of the Greek Revival movement starting in the late 19th century. The back is completely clean with no engraving, which is highly unusual for a piece of this age. Like many antique solid gold lockets made at or before the turn of the century, the surface of the locket used to have a high karat gold finish.

It's no secret that I love fine Art Nouveau solid gold lockets with unusual motifs or designs. They are very hard to come by these days and retain better investment value. It could be a wonderful gift to treat yourself or your loved one!

Measurements: approx. 1 & 1/8" across (without counting the bale and jump ring).

Metal: unmarked. The gold content varies from 14K to 10K at different spots. The slight inconsistency is not unusual for jewelry made in the old time as mixing alloy was manually done, so the proportions were not always quite as precise as they are today. To err on the conservative side, we listed this item as 10K. The test was done electronically and confirmed with acid.

Condition: very fine antique condition with age appropriate wear. It retains two original bezel rings, one protection sheet, and two film covers. Two pinhead size metal nicks on the back. Please look through all the pictures as they are part of the description. The locket opens well and closes firmly with a 'click'.
