Antique 1899 United States Liberty Head Gold Coin Pendant in French 18K Bezel
An American gold coin with a French chapter in its story. This antique 1899 United States $10 Liberty Head gold eagle is framed in an 18k gold bezel bearing the French eagle-head hallmark and hangs from an antique 18k gold split ring.
Lady Liberty graces the front, wearing a coronet inscribed “LIBERTY” and surrounded by thirteen stars. The reverse features a heraldic eagle with a shield, an olive branch, and arrows beneath the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The open setting allows both sides to be admired.
Struck in 90% gold—equivalent to 21.6k—the coin has a rich golden color beautifully complemented by its simple 18k frame. The antique split ring adds character and makes it easy to pair with your favorite chain.
It’s fascinating to imagine its journey: how did an American gold coin travel across the Atlantic and find its way into the hands of a French jeweler? After 127 years, it retains such lovely detail. If only it could tell us its story!
