The strand is composed of varying sized genuine un-dyed deep pinkish salmon red coral beads, ranging from 3mm-4.3mm. They are are most likely from the Mediterranean sea, which is the prime source of high quality coral during the Victorian Era.

Most coral bead jewelry now in the market are treated with red dye (most modern ones) or have a pale pink uneven color (for many undyed ones), but that is certainly not the case with this strand.

All the beads in this strand are well matched in saturated vivid pinkish red color. The texture under magnification resembles salmon fish (that's how these corals get the name!). The strand is connected with its original antique 10K solid gold barrel clasp.
