Antique Victorian Etruscan Revival 14K Solid Gold Scallop Shield Shape Locket, Ornate Metal Work, Circa 1880s
This fabulous antique Victorian 14K solid gold scallop shape locket was made in the 1870s-1880s. It has a classic Etruscan Revival design which strives to reclaim the glory of the ancient Italians. It is very old (over 100 years old) and still gorgeous with all the expected fine details.
The unique and intricate metal work easily reminds us of the glorious ancient construction, such as the carved entablature surrounding an ancient temple. Opening from the back, it reveals one compartment to store your photo, a lock of hair, or a love note! So precious! It still retains its original bezel and glass cover. The little baby tooth-bite marks on the the cover indicates that once upon a time the piece was possibly owned by a mother who had a young infant. The rich surface patina truly indicates the age and history this piece has gone through.
