Circa 1890s, this antique floral pin brooch is a prototype of my childhood jewelry fantasy. It features a foliage design accented with a total of twenty foiled back glittering old rose cut diamonds in crimped collet setting and mounted with silver and backed by gold. The center is highlighted with a prong-set deep purple oval shape faceted natural amethyst. This classic design combines a modern feminine taste and vintage chic in the best possible way.

This lovely brooch can be worn as a nice closure on an open cardigan, or a fabulous touch up on a blouse, scarf or jacket.
A nice feature that we love about this brooch is that the pin stem can be completely hidden behind the catch, which makes it safe and comfortable to wear. This feature also allows it to be connected to a watch chain and used as a enhancer pendant, or you can simply slide a chain from behind and use it as a pendant (you can refer to the listing pictures for some of the ideas). It can also be easily converted to a necklace, which is very trendy for many vintage jewelry lovers.

Ideas are endless! But I would rather leave the option to the future owner.

Measurement: approx. 1 & 1/4" x 1 & 3/16"

Metal: silver and gold. The prongs of the amethyst test 14k, pin on back tests 10k. All metal components have been tested.

Weight: approx. 11.7 grams.

Gemstones: Amethyst: approx. 20mm x 16.5mm x 9.15mm, 16 carats by formula. Amethyst in deep rich saturated color like this one is normally associated with Siberian origin by people in the jewelry trade.

Diamonds: there are 20 rose cut diamonds, the largest four diamonds measure approx. 5.7mm, 5.6mm, 5.3mm and 5.1mm by spread, the remaining smaller diamonds range from 3.2mm to 2.5mm. Since they are all closed-back, it is impossible to precisely gauge full weight of the diamonds. Rose cut is one of the earliest diamond cutting methods. As they were mostly hand cut, it is normal to see tiny chips & rough unpolished sides / edges for diamonds cut in that period. Also, please keep in mind that these diamonds are not measured, cut or graded by today’s modern standards, but they have tons of antique charm that modern diamonds cannot be compared with.

Condition: very fine antique condition with minor scratches, tarnish and wear. The amethyst is in a very fine shape without visible chips/abrasions. All diamonds are present, white and very sparkly. Seen with magnification-- all of the diamonds have either some inclusions, tiny chips & rough unpolished sides / edges (normal for the period). All diamonds are securely set. The pin mechanism works properly. Please refer to the listing pictures for the general condition.
