Antique Georgian Iberian 14K Gold Rose Cut Diamond Dangle Drop Earrings, Wedding Bridal Jewelry, Pierced Earrings

This rare and gorgeous pair of antique 14K solid gold rose cut diamond earrings is absolutely a dream! Made during the late 18th century/early 19th century, possibly in Spain or Portugal, any collector would love to have them.

Made of solid 14K yellow gold, the earrings are crafted with beautiful open work flower design and each earring is highlighted with 9 rose cut diamonds/ senailles set in a closed-back, which is the typical 18th century Iberian style. Uniquely, each petal of the flower is subtlety heart-shaped; which adds a romantic detail to this otherwise classic piece. It features back to front earring closures. Each earring has a loop at bottom and another small loop on the earring wire, which makes me believe it is part of a day-night earrings, which was a popular earring style in the Georgian era.

Note: Senaille is small diamond chip with a flat base and cut in an irregular shape, usually somewhat in the form of a simplified circular rose cut diamond. Such chips were used in jewelry rather for their effect than for their intrinsic value. Source. 

Metal: unmarked but professionally tested in the 14K range.

Size: approx. 22 mm long (from top to bottom) and 18.8mm wide.

Weight: 6.8 grams.

Diamond measurement: there are 9 diamonds in each earring, which vary in size: the largest/center ones: approx. 4mm x 3.3mm, 3.5mm x 3.5mm, the remaining diamonds are approx. 2mm. I am not able to provide the weight of the diamonds because they are all closed-back, which makes it virtually impossible to precisely gauge the diamonds. Please keep in mind that these diamonds are not measured, cut, or graded by today’s modern standards, but they have tons of antique charm that modern diamonds cannot be compared with.

Condition: very fine antique condition with age related wear, scratches, and patina. Seen with magnification-- all of the diamonds have either some surface breaking, inclusions, tiny chips & rough unpolished sides / edges (normal for the period). All diamonds are securely set.
