Georgian Regency 18K Gold Ornate Link Sautoir Long Chain Necklace, 42 Inches
This Georgian Regency period ( circa 1820s-1830s) high karat solid gold (minimum 18K) long chain necklace is the oldest yet one of the most beautiful chains that I have owned. It has an extremely ornate and indicate link design. I will simply let the pictures speak for themselves :)
This type of genuine Georgian long chain rarely comes up in the market because most of them don't survive the brutal 200 years' history, therefore, they are sought after by collectors.
It has a long length of approx. 42 inches, so it can be worn in single length or double length. It will make you look fabulous regardless in an evening gown for a ballroom dance or a simple T-shirt and jeans.
History: it came from a family estate and was owned by the seller's aunt's mother and grandmother. Based on the seller, the aunt is an 11th generation decedent of Myles Standish, military captain of the Mayflower.
Total Weight: approx. 58.8 grams (a very comfortable weight to wear).
Link width: approx. 5mm-10mm.
Metal: The chain is tested as 18K-20k. The clasp appears to be a 1900s replacement and tested 14K. The end split ring tests 15K.
Condition: very good antique condition with age appropriate wear and small irregularities/imperfections due to handmade nature and age. Minor denting and small deficiency in metal details in one or two links. One open work circle link is connected with a single round link (instead of double link like others). Nothing affects its functionality and beauty. Remember this is a 200 year old chain and is still in a beautiful and wearable condition, which is already a miracle and certainly a treat to own.
